Last night’s episode started at Chicago with Stefan, Klaus, and Rebekah in a clothing store. Klaus and Stefan sipping champagne while Rebekah is trying out clothes.

When she walks out of the changing room, she complains about the outfits that women are wearing today and the music that this generation listens to now. Stefan leaves to take a break from the original siblings and spots Katherine outside.

Katherine guessed that Klaus is looking for the necklace (that Elena has) and she wanted to know his plan for Klaus just so she could tell him it wouldn’t work. Stefan doesn’t trust her to let her in his plans so he walks but before he gone back inside the store, Kat tells Stefan to be careful with Rebekah, she will destroy him.
When Stefan gets back to Klaus and Rebekah they are with Gloria who is searching for the necklace using her magical ways. Klaus complains that the search is taking too long, so Rebekah volunteers her services since she was wearing the necklace for so long. When Gloria takes her hand, Gloria starts to sense something. Before the witchy stuff happens, Damon and Elena are flirting over her chili they are making for the potluck party at the Lockwoods. When Damon and Alaric are gone, Caroline shows up with a surprise – its Bonnie. They hugged it out and then Jeremy shows up and they do the run into each others arms, only Bonnie did the running when he looked up, he saw Anna’s image in the mirror. Little does she know that before she got there he was talking to his dead girlfriend Anna. After Bonnie showed up, Jeremy rolled over in bed and Anna was there. He saw her and heard her. She’d been screaming his name for days, trying to get him to hear her. What changed? He’d been dreaming about her just then, he said. In the kitchen, Elena is wrapping up the chili for the party while defending Damon to Bonnie and Caroline who are shocked to know he helped her make it. Then Elena’s necklace burns her skin, she takes it off and gives it to Bonnie, when that happens the necklace shoots sparks and both girls drop it. Gloria tells Klaus she found the necklace. She tells them that its with a girl and her friends which Rebekah replies a dead girl and her dead friends if she doesn’t get her necklace back. Gloria tells them that is all she sees, she needs more time to find out who has it. Stefan is happy to distract Klaus and Rebekah by telling them he’s hungry. “I’ll let you pick who we eat,” he tempted Klaus.
Damon helps Sheriff Forbes compel Bill (Caroline’s dad) to forget about the fact that he’s daughter is a vampire.
At the Lockwoods’, Caroline is worried that Elena is “switching Salvatores,” while Bonnie is looking in her spellbook to find out more about the necklace. The necklace begins to float and she tells the others that she is not doing it, the necklace has its own magic. Back to the ‘Terrible Threesome’, Rebekah complains she’s bored because she finished her meal aka woman. “My girl’s dead, I’m bored’, Stefan and Klaus take their time feeding on their own women. Klaus calls his sister a brat, she gets pissed and Stefan laughs before he puts Klaus in his place by telling him the time he has spent with him he wants to shoot his brains out. Stefan leaves again and Rebekah asks Klaus why is he leaving, Klaus tells her to write another name on the wall, but unknown to Klaus, Stefan went to see Gloria instead.
Gloria tells Stefan that she knows he is lying to Klaus about the necklace because when she was casting a spell to find said necklace, the girls (Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie) were talking about him (Stefan) He asked her why she didn’t tell Klaus. Because she doesn’t really want to help Klaus, she said. That necklace is a talisman from the Original Witch herself. Gloria wanted it for herself. She threatened to tell Klaus that Stefan was lying to him and tries to attack her, but she was ready and uses her magic to burst the veins in Stefan’s brain which causes him to collapse in pain. She’s going to get the truth out of him the hard way.
We see Stefan shirtless and paralyze because of a spell on a table, his arms spread out. She cuts his wrists and puts something the cuts to keep his super healing from working. The blood is pouring on two bowls and she tells him she needs his ‘essence’ to help her find out the truth. Then she rubbed some herbs based with vervain and smears it on his chest. He groans. She couldn’t just use his blood alone for the magic to work, she has to break down his mental walls to find the truth. Stefan fights hard to block her out, but she keeps torturing him until she gets through and sees imagines of Elena and Stefan together, she finds out that he loves her, that he’d do anything for her, that she was the doppelgänger who survived the sacrifice ritual and was keeping Klaus from making his hybrid army. Gloria starts to laugh in glee because with this info she can get her hands on the necklace either from Stefan or Klaus, at least, that’s what I expect, but it doesn’t matter because Katherine shows up out of nowhere and stabs Gloria in the neck and kills her.
Katherine tells Stefan while he’s wrapping up Gloria in a carpet that he’s plan is not going to work alone, he needs her help, but he refuses. He doesn’t trust her to help. She recommends he bond with Klaus, which would make Rebekah want him more. Her want to rekindle her romance with Stefan would make her vulnerable. All Stefan wanted to do, he said, was keep them away from Mystic Falls and figure out who Klaus, an Original vampire who can’t be killed, was running from in the ’20s. Why was he still afraid of this vampire hunter? Katherine said she wanted in if he was plotting against Klaus, and Stefan threw Gloria’s dead body over his shoulder and tells her it’s good to want things and leaves to tell her to find another partner in crime.
Just when Damon thinks that Bill is compelled to go away, he shows up after the counsel meeting and still remembers everything. Bill said he would never out his daughter to the morons on the Council. Caroline sees her father and can’t deal with him so she leaves and tells Elena to call her if she needs help. Alaric wonders what is up with her and Elena tells him while they leave. Damon catches up with them and tells them that he compelled Bill before and it didn’t work and now he wants to make some changes in Mystic Falls like add vervain in drinks so the townfolk are protected by vampires. Elena and Alaric think it’s a great idea. Damon gets pissed because he doesn’t like people telling him or changing him into someone he doesn’t want to be. Damon wanting to kill Bill (No pun intended)Elena told him he couldn’t because he’s Caroline’s dad. “Yeah, and when I kill him, she’ll have one more parent than we do,” he told her. He started to move back to the house, and Alaric tried to stop him. ”Your temporary funeral,” Damon said, before breaking his neck. At least Damon made sure Alaric was wearing his ring. Damon leaves after Elena yells at him.
Caroline at the moment is about to have sex with Tyler again when Elena calls her to tell her there’s a problem. The girls take care of Alaric while Damon goes after Bill.
Bill tells Damon how he was able to block out his compulsion because he’d been honing his skill to avoid mind compulsion for a decade, and added that Damon’s technique was a little lazy.
Bill tells Damon he wasn’t stupid enough to kill the ex-husband of the sheriff. Damon was tired of being underestimated. He bit Bill. Damon didn’t want to kill Bill as much as he wanted to make him the walking blood bag his daughter had once been for him. Caroline came back just in time to toss Damon off her dad. Caroline kicking Damon’s ass in this scene was awesome. One of my favorite fights in the entire series. Caroline bitch slaps Damon across the room again and bites her wrist for her dad to drink so he will heal, he refuses, and she tells him to ‘Grow up’ and forces him to drink. Damon wasn’t through with him, and Caroline told Damon to leave. Or what? She bitch-slapped him across the room again. Damon tosses her across a table and jumps on top of her and chokes her. “I’m stronger than you, little girl,” he said. “Well, I’m angrier,” she answered, breaking his wrist, headbutting him, tossing him off her, and grabbing her father and fleeing in vamp speed.
Elena shows up and tells Damon off saying he can’t be like he was before, it’s needs to stop, and he tells her that this is who he is, he’s not Stefan and she needs to stop trying to change him into his brother.

When Bonnie was trying to do research on the necklace in the grimoires, Jeremy asked why she wasn’t just going to the dead witches for help. Turns out, they cut her off after she brought Jeremy back to life. She messed with nature. Anna appeared and told him she felt the darkness, and suddenly, some of the grimoires went up in flames. Later, while Bonnie was cleaning up the mess, Jeremy saw Anna again. He told her she couldn’t keep popping up every time he was with Bonnie, and she reminded him that she only gets to come through when he’s thinking about her. That’s why he hasn’t told Bonnie about seeing ghosts, she said. He doesn’t want Bonnie to know he still has feelings for her. “Goodbye, Anna,” he said and he closes his eyes and shuts her out. He walks up to Bonnie and tells him the truth while Anna is behind him shouting and her voice is fleeting away because he has block her out. She cries and tells him don’t do this because she’s all alone where she is.
After Stefan dumps the body wherever he put it, he goes back to where all the coffins are that keeps the Original Vampires inside. Just when he’s about to open one of them, Rebekah shows up and she’s glad to see him. Stefan asks her why she never freed her family from the daggers, but Rebekah tells him that her brother is a vengeful bastard, Stefan tells her that she must hate him for what he did, she tells him that she did for a long time, but it was too exhausting to hold on it. Then Stefan asks her about that night in the 20′s when she and Klaus were running from someone, but she tells him to forget it because Klaus doesn’t want her to tell anyone. Rebekah tells him she knows about Elena and the fact that Stefan is only with Klaus to save his brother. She thought Klaus secretly admired that Stefan would sacrifice anything for family. When Stefan turned to leave, she grabbed his arm and kissed him. She asked if he thought he could ever love another woman like he’d loved Elena. He said one day maybe. She didn’t believe him. When Klaus showed up, she told him that Stefan wasn’t in his side because she can feel it. Klaus attacks him.
Elena and Caroline are walking to school when Caroline gets fed up that Elena won’t admit her feelings for Damon and Elena tells her she can’t because if she did then what kind of person does that make her. Caroline tells her that it makes her human. Caroline sees her dad on the street as he was preparing to leave town before someone killed him. He thanked her for rescuing him, and for a moment, you thought it was a happy ending. ”Daddy, I’m gonna be okay,” she said. “You’re a vampire, sweetheart. I don’t think you’ll ever be okay again.” Back to Bonnie, she is sitting down outside of Mystic Falls talking to Elena. Elena asks for the necklace back because she feels weird about without it, so Bonnie gives it back to her. Bonnie tells Elena that Jeremy is seeing his dead girlfriends because she brought him back to life. Elena disappears when Bonnie turns around to face her. Elena shows up to see Damon and it turns out it’s not Elena, but Katherine (Bonnie was talking to Katherine, not Elena), who asks Damon to come with her to a road trip and she will tell him everything when they get to wherever she wants to take him. She shows him she has the Elena’s necklace. He agrees because since everyone is pissed at him for the things he did to Bill and Alaric. Before Katherine showed up, Damon was making drinks for Alaric and himself, he told Alaric to wake up. Damon tells Alaric he should check out that ring of his because it took longer for him to wake up then the other times he died. Damon thinking that Alaric was going to understand why he did what he did at the Salvatore home but Alaric can’t forgive him for killing him.
Stefan awoke in the roving coffin truck, and Klaus opened the door — they’re back in Mystic Falls.
