Hardly Magazine recently chatted with The Vampire Diaries star Steven R. McQueen about his personal life, music, and his character in the television series:
So far, Season Two has seen McQueen’s character continuing down the same path of misfortune. Haunted by the ghosts of girlfriends past (as in, he can see and hear them), Jeremy is getting further away from normal teenager territory every episode. When asked about the evolution of his character, McQueen puts a positive spin on the trials and tribulations that currently make up Jeremy’s life: “I think the character has nowhere to go but up,” he suggests. “He has been so broken down and weak that he has slowly become strong. I think [this season] you will notice a lot of changes.”
But don’t expect a transformation to be one of those changes. Though there was a scare last season when audiences watched Jeremy consider sipping vampire blood to turn into one of the cold ones and shut off the pain, it looks like Jeremy is going to be hanging on to his humanity, remaining one of the “regular” humans in Mystic Falls. “I enjoy playing a human in this fantasy world,” says McQueen who is happy not to see Jeremy become a vampire, werewolf, or hybrid (part vampire/part werewolf).

Synopsis:
A daring new departure from the inspired creator of The Vampire Chronicles (“unrelentingly erotic… unforgettable”), the Lives of the Mayfair Witches (“Anne Rice will live on through the ages of literature”), and the angels of The Songs of the Seraphim (“remarkable”). A whole new world — modern, sleek, high-tech, and at its center, a story as old and compelling as history — the making of a werewolf, re-imagined and re-invented as only Anne Rice, teller of mesmerizing tales, conjurer extraordinaire of other realms, could create it.The time is the present.
The place, the rugged coast of northern California. A bluff high above the Pacific. A grand mansion full of beauty and tantalizing history set against a towering redwood forest.
A young reporter on assignment from the San Francisco Observer… an older woman, welcoming him into her magnificent, historic family home that he has been sent to write about and that she must sell with some urgency… a chance encounter between two unlikely people… an idyllic night — shattered by horrific unimaginable violence… the young man inexplicably attacked — bitten — by a beast he cannot see in the rural darkness… a violent episode that sets in motion a terrifying yet seductive transformation as the young man, caught between ecstasy and horror, between embracing who he is evolving into and fearing who — what — he will become, soon experiences the thrill of the wolf gift.
As he resists the paradoxical pleasure and enthrallment of his wolfen savagery and delights in the power and (surprising) capacity for good, he is caught up in a strange and dangerous rescue and is desperately hunted as “the Man Wolf” by authorities, the media, and scientists (evidence of DNA threatens to reveal his dual existence). As a new and profound love enfolds him, questions emerge that propel him deeper into his mysterious new world: questions of why and how he has been given this gift; of its true nature and the curious but satisfying pull towards goodness; of the profound realization that there are others like him who may be watching — guardian creatures who have existed throughout time and may possess ancient secrets and alchemical knowledge; and throughout it all, the search for salvation for a soul tormented by a new realm of temptations and the fraught, exhilarating journey still to come, of being and becoming, fully, both wolf and man.

Thanks to Scifi Mafia for the heads up. La Times reported that the rocker will make a guest appearance on Tim Burton‘s ‘Dark Shadows‘ film portraying himself and singing his 70′s hit song “No More Mr. Nice Guy.”
Alice thoughts on the set of the film at Pinewood Studios:
“They should take that set and make it a haunted house next year”
And what he had to say about working with Tim Burton:
“Rock and horror and comedy work together, that’s something I’ve known a long time and people like Rob Zombie know, and Burton knows that too,” Cooper said. “Sometimes the comedy is disguised a little bit, it’s dark, but it is there. You can’t do horror and rock with a punchline in a way. There’s the absurd stuff and there’s just that delivery of the ’Oh!’ moment that is like a punchline. I just saw ‘Final Destination 5′ and I was laughing so hard. I mean, it was Wile E. Coyote, all these elaborate things leading up to this moment of impact… there’s something like that in our shows, too. Hitchcock would do it too. There’s the setup, the misdirect and then the delivery. Tim Burton knows it so well. He’s one of a kind. He’s a kindred spirit.”

Zap2it has the scoop on what to expect for episode 309 ‘Homecoming’ of The Vampire Diaries:
Sources tell us that when Klaus gets back into town, he’s not alone — he’s been busy cooking up some more hybrids. And they’re not exactly at homecoming to enjoy the spiked punch.
Which brings us to Tyler (Michael Trevino). If Caroline (Candice Accola) looks particularly worried in the photo, it’s for very good reason. We haven’t seen Tyler on screen since he and Rebekah chowed down on some innocent victim, but we can assume that he’s been up to no good. Damon suggested last week that Tyler won’t be released from his sire until Klaus dies, and until then, he’s highly impressionable.
Matt (Zach Roerig) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) will go to homecoming together, though Stefan (Paul Wesley) won’t be far away, given his new role as her personal vampire bodyguard. While being Elena’s date was probably Matt’s greatest dream last year, this year, we’re hearing that she’s actually his Plan B, after his original date falls through. Hmmm.
