MTV‘s Hollywood Crush have the exclusive featurette of the movie “The Moth Diaries.”
We’re not kidding when we say that this movie has everything: a foggy and foreboding landscape, a pair of inseparable friends, a creepy new classmate who comes between them in the most insidious way and who may or may not be a vampire, a sympathetic-but-skeptical teacher played by uberhottie Scott Speedman, and a story that mixes gothic mythology and women’s studies right in with its spooks and scares.

In an interview with Hollywood Crush, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev talks about tonight’s episode and gives us some info about the season finale.
“1912″ is mostly Originals free, but Julie told the crowd we certainly haven’t seen the last of them. There are plenty more revelations, romantic entanglements and flashbacks in store for the folks in Mystic Falls as season three marches toward its mid-May finale. Nina had yet to read the script for that sure-to-be-a-juggernaut-of-an-episode, but she told us: “There’s a couple of really cool surprises happening in the finale that people [should] really look forward to.”
We will laugh, we will cry, we will shriek in terror and we may possibly jump for joy. “I got a little synopsis from Julie,” Nina revealed. “She gave me a couple of spoilers that I can’t tell you about, but, people are going to be really happy, excited and scared. They’re going to laugh and cry. It’s going to be pretty epic.”
In an interview with MTV‘s Hollywood Crush, The Vampire Diaries star Candice Accola talks about what’s going on with her character Caroline, her world views, and admirers.
“There has been a development between Caroline and Klaus,” Candice acknowledged, speaking to us on the red carpet before the premiere. “But I feel it’s been more a tool of manipulation on Caroline’s part. Everything has been more or less part of a master plan.”
While vampire-werewolf hybrid Tyler has been off trying to break his sire bond for the sake of Caroline, old Niklaus has been putting his seductive moves on her with fancy jewelry, fancy clothes, cool drawings and invitations to journey with him to exotic locales. “[Klaus is] actually putting into Caroline’s mind that there’s a whole other world out there,” she pointed out. “There’s culture, there’s art. ‘You have the ability to live forever. Do it! Live!’”
Around the time we met Stefan Salvatore in season one, he was headed back to high school. Caroline likely would’ve found herself in the same place, even sooner, had it not been for the worldview-broadening intervention of ol’ Niklaus.
“Exactly!” Candice agreed. “Living in high school. Being the ultimate head cheerleader and the best prom committee head ever… This is the first time Caroline has really seen opportunity. I think that’s what attracts her to Klaus. ‘Cause otherwise, Caroline probably would have just ended up in her small town, you know, sipping on wine coolers, talking about the good old days when she was Miss Mystic Falls.”
In an interview with MTV’s Hollywood Crush at the PaleyFest 2012, The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder talks about flashbacks in the series and Sage portrayed by Cassidy Freeman.
“Here’s the cool thing: As much as Stefan had Lexi, Damon had this woman Sage, and she was sort of this hot temptress, sultress, bad-ass chick,” Ian explained. “She revived him and showed him the way to live and enjoy yourself—realize life is short even for a vampire. Enjoy it. Literally, carpe diem—not to sound trite. I think that was a huge turning point for Damon, and no one’s seen it.”
…Until now, that is. And as it turns out, we’re not the only ones who sometimes enjoy eschewing the 21st century in favor of speakeasys and opulent balls.
“I think the invaluable thing about these flashbacks is that you inevitably find out what made these characters who they are now,” Ian continued. “What was the anatomy of the events that lead them up to now?”
When The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev arrived for Elton John‘s Oscars Viewing Party, MTV Hollywood Crush got a chance to chat with the beauty about the famous love triangle, possible romance with Elena and Elijah, and that we will see more of Klaus’s humanity.
When we last saw Elena, she was still broken up with emotionally repressed Stefan and had driven Damon so far away that he (quite deliciously) hooked up with Rebekah in retaliation. “Elena is in between Salvatores, [but] she’s always kind of in-between Salvatores,” Nina pointed out. “She always has been, now especially, she’s kind of torn between the two. And she’s not spoken for necessarily by one or the other. So it’s an interesting dynamic.”
Will the tenderness and subtle affection that’s somewhat surprisingly developed between Elena and Elijah complicate things? Showrunner Julie Plec has told us these developments grew from the writers’ own affection for the guy who plays the allegiance-shifting Original, Daniel Gillies, but there’s no clear indication where it’s headed. “I wouldn’t say there’s a love interest,” Nina told us, adding, “I guess we’ll see what develops in the future though.”
Speaking of evolving villains, the interest Niklaus Mikaelson has taken in Caroline (That dress! That bracelet! That drawing!) certainly surprised many viewers who had written off the Original family’s dark horse (pun intended) as entirely evil through and through. “We’re starting to see a little bit more of Klaus and a little bit different layers and sides of him,” Nina explained. “He’s a person whose more emotional and he’s starting to fall for Caroline, and giving her some protection so it’s very—I never thought I would see the day where Klaus would have a soft spot for anyone.”
As for Nina’s own evolution, the Elton John party marked the 23-year-old “Degrassi: The Next Generation” veteran’s first Academy Awards-related experience. “It’s my first ever Oscar anything to actually attend,” she enthused. “I mean, I’ve been watching for years like everyone else. But it was very different to get to my hair and make-up team, get ready and watch the Oscars on the carpet and then come to Elton’s party and have dinner with all these amazing people that I admire and love, so it’s cool.”

At the Hasbro American International Toy Fair, True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard talks about his co-star Christopher Meloni and the “Battleship” director Peter Berg talks about why he wanted Alexander in the film to MTV Hollywood Crush.
“I was a fan of ‘True Blood’ [and] all the girls in the office stormed my office and demanded that we cast him,” Peter said of offering the role to the Swede. Of course, with the topic of “True Blood” on the table, I had to ask Alex for any and all hints about the upcoming season, set to debut this summer.
According to the hunk, the cast is currently filming episode four of the fifth season, and if you’ve been following casting announcements, you know a brand-new big-bad will storm Bon Temps this season: “Law & Order: SVU” star Christopher Meloni.
“He’s really, really good,” Alex enthused of new co-star Chris. “And a great guy.” As to whether we’ll be seeing the newbie predominately shirtless, Alex would only say, “Maybe, maybe not,” cheekily adding, “He’s so hot.”
