Vampire Diaries Bite Interview with Joseph Morgan on Klaroline and Katherine

Down the Rabbit Hole

In an interview with TV Guide, Joseph Morgan talks about Klaus, Caroline, Jeremy, and Katherine.

“There’s always got to be a hint of hope [for them], hasn’t there?” Morgan tells TVGuide.com in the video below. I would like to think that she is understanding enough [because] this is the thing: No one is truly good or evil. There’s always some redeeming quality somewhere, maybe buried very, very deep within someone. I was filming a scene with her the other day, so the characters are still interacting. Their relationship, and I’ll use that term loosely, becomes much more complex the more we go on, which is so interesting to play.”

While the trio’s drama was playing out in Mystic Falls, a very big enemy of Klaus’ was returning out on the island. Just as Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) was trying to get the cure free from Silas’ fossilized hands, Katherine swooped in, grabbed the cure, and was gone before Jeremy could breathe his final breath. What does this all mean for the hybrid who despises the doppelganger? “Well, there are going to be interesting developments with that,” Morgan says. “We’ve got to bear in mind this is someone who Klaus hunted down for 500 years. So she’s going to want to do everything she can to avoid him, whether that’s trying to kill him or make peace with him or trying to broker a deal with him, that remains to be seen, but absolutely not something that’s brushed over.”

Vampire Diaries Bite Interview with Ian Somerhalder and Joseph Morgan

The Vampire Diaries Episode 4.03 "The Rager" - Klaus and DamonTV Guide talks to Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder on Damon being in danger for tomorrow’s episode. Also Robyn talks to Joseph Morgan on Klaus and Caroline.

“Vaughn poses a pretty substantial threat,” Ian Somerhalder told TVGuide.com. “He’s a formidable adversary.”

And, as Somerhalder pointed out to us, “Damon would be an extremely difficult man to get tied up to a tree, unless you’re Elena or some hot sorority girl who is compelled to do so. So the fact that he’s there means Vaughn knows what he’s doing.”

Meanwhile, back in Mystic Falls, Caroline and Tyler are still holed up with their biggest enemy, Klaus. Caroline clearly doesn’t want anything to do with him, but she and Tyler learn that Klaus is the key to finding the cure.

“Klaus has got some knowledge which will come in handy in attempts to translate the code on the Hunter’s sword, Joseph Morgan added. “So there will be a whole new [dynamic] where they need something from him, which he enjoys … especially with Caroline, to make her feel like she needs him. That’s part of the game for him.”

Vampire Diaries Bite Interview with Ian Somerhalder on Elena’s love for Damon

THE MURDER OF ONE

In an interview with Vampire Diaries star Ian Somehalder, he talks to TV Guide about how it will be a long time before Damon believes Elena loves him.

“It’s pretty plain and simple. Damon has no desire for himself or Elena to take this crap and he’s thinking, ‘Why would one want to do that?”Ian Somerhalder tells TVGuide.com. “But it’s what she wants and the whole reason Damon is here is for the woman he loves. Her desire and her safety is his whole life at this point.”

Damon also fears that if Elena becomes human again, she’ll no longer love him, whether it’s because it breaks the sire bond or because she comes to her senses. Elena says that being human won’t change a thing, but Somerhalder is skeptical. “I think there’s a 50-50 chance that this girl is in love with him.”

Even if their love is real, Somerhalder admits that he’s not sure that Damon could ever embrace it — at least not in the near future. Why? Blame Katherine.

“It’s safe to say it would ultimately be quite some time before he would allow himself to [fall in love],” Somerhalder says. “Even as dumb and crazy as Damon can be, it’s like, ‘ouch fire hot, ouch fire hot, ouch fire hot.’ I would hope the man would take a break. Hell, people get burned over a six-month relationship and take a year to heal. If you got screwed over for 150 years, you can imagine how that carries forward.
